Food blogger Vani Hari’s petition to Kellogg and General Mills to drop a preservative from their cereals is getting widespread public support, reports Entrepreneur.
The petition demands the removal of the FDA-approved chemical Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) from cereals and packaging on the grounds that it is unnecessary and potentially dangerous.
Chaninat and Leeds’ lawyers are experts on Thailand FDA laws and have assisted international and Thai clients with FDA registration and regulations since 1997.
Hari’s petition has over 40,000 signatures and petitioners have taken to General Mills’ social media to express their disapproval, prompting the food giant to claim it is “on the path to remove the chemical from its products.”
Entrepreneur reports that Hari said she targeted BHT because it is already being eliminated and replaced in the same foods in Europe.
“They’re American companies,” says Hari. “They should be doing that for [American customers]!”
