On the heels of Facebook’s disastrous IPO: Facebook Bangkok is in the News
There are more facebook users per capita in Bangkok than any other city in the world reports the Wall Street Journal. Bangkok has been estimated to have some 8.68 million Facebook users, followed by Jakarta at 7.43 million and Istanbul at 7.07 million. Bangkok’s population is approximately 16 million so an 8.68 million facebook registration count is quite high!
The company preparing these statistics, “Socialbakers” claims that “Facebook Penetration Rate” is listed as 104.8 percent for Bangkok, compared to roughly 20 to 80 percent in other top ten cities. We were uncertain what the term “Facebook Penetration”, meant and could not find it on any Web dictionaries. The company spokesman actually describes a phenomenon call “Facebook Penetration” However, the company spokesperson, Mr. Perry, attributes the high rate of “Facebook Penetration” to users in Thailand employing more than one Facebook account to correspond with various sets of friends — or surreptitious lovers.
So maybe Facebook Penetration means the penetration that result from having a Facebook account that has your surreptitious lovers?
