Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte recently likened himself to Hitler saying “If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have…,” pointing to himself according to The Guardian.
Duterte continued to compare himself to the Nazi by saying “Hitler massacred three million Jews … there’s three million drug addicts. There are. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”
The German government and the World Jewish Congress have slammed Duterte’s comments with the latter calling the remarks “revolting” along with demands that they be retracted.

President Duterte came to power on June 30th and since then has declared an all out war on drugs targeting both traffickers and users. Since then there have 3000 drug related killings reported including 1,105 people killed in police operations up to September 16.
Phelim Kine, deputy Asia director of Human Rights Watch, has said the Duterte has given the police a license to kill without any fear of being held accountable for their actions.
