Cody Wilson, the developer of the first fully functional 3D printable gun, was arrested by authorities in Taipei last week after a warrant was put out for his arrest in the US for alleged sexual assault of a minor.
While not technically extradited, Taiwanese authorities grabbed Wilson after the State Department had canceled his passport.
Austin police picked up Wilson from the airport and arrested him with meeting and sexually a 16-year-old girl he had met on a website for hookups called SugarDaddyMeet.com.
Wilson became a huge thorn in the side of political officials and state and federal agencies after posting the working blueprint of a 3D printed gun on the internet for anyone to download.
Federal authorities from the State Department sued Wilson and argued in court that the schematics could easily be used by terrorists and criminals if he wasn’t barred from publishing them.
But, recently, President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions backed down from the court case against Wilson.
Wilson, a staunch libertarian, claims it is his right to publish his 3D gun blueprints under the 1st and 2nd amendments.
Wilson is currently out on bail.
