Courts Close in Bangkok

by Admin on November 7, 2011

If you’ve got a court date, a legal dispute, or if you’ve been languishing behind the bars of a Thai prison waiting to make bail, you might have to sit tight for a few days. Thanks to heavy flooding on Ratchadapisek Road, the central Bangkok Appeals Court, Criminal Court, and Civil Court have all been closed. The Criminal Court will be closed until November 15th, and the Appeals and Civil Courts are closed until further notice.

Furthermore, the Administrative Court and the Bankruptcy Court on Chaeng Wattana Road will be closed from Novemeber 7th to the 11th. Courts in the heavily flooded provinces of Pathumi Thani and Nonthaburi provinces are, unsurprisingly, closed indefintely.

Updated on November 8th to add: As of  today, all courts in Bangkok’s Thonburi district are aso closed.

**UPDATE!** As of November 18th, the status of Bangkok’s Courts is uncertain. While we have contacted all of the Courts mentioned, the Courts have not yet released coherant information regarding  their reopening. Please conatact your attorney for the most up-to-date information on this matter.
