by Admin on August 13, 2013

Christo and Sharlene Lassiter (now Boltz) were married for ten years – seven years less than their divorce has taken to sort. The warring spouses, both law professors have been held up by the court as a perfect example to future generation lawyers of how not to behave in the courtroom.

The average length of a divorce without children can be completed in between six to nine months.

The filings have included Boltz calling the police to Lassiter’s workplace several times; both having and then losing custody of their two children, now ages 20 and 17.

Among issues still being litigated is money.

Proceedings continue on September 6.

When couples divorce in Thailand, separate property, namely assets and property acquired before marriage, generally remains the property of the owner. Assets and property acquired during marriage are commonly considered community property with both spouses having ownership rights.  The rules regarding division of property are complex and the Thai Courts will divide the property according to the law and individual facts of the case.
