The Hangzou government is launching a “social credit system” that China’s Communist Party said it wants to establish nationwide by 2020.

According to this Zerohedge, a citizen will have a ‘personal credit score’ based on behavior such as spending habits, filial piety and turnstile violations. An individual with a bad credit score could get rejected for loans, job applications and even air travel.

The system would gather input from government documents and other social behavior such as volunteering, academics and online shopping trends.
