Nova Scotia’s cyberbullying law is being struck down, two and a half years after it was introduced.
It emerged following the suicide of a teenage girl, and as Tech Dirt describes it: “Like many laws written in the wake of a tragedy, it was a hodgepodge of good intentions bundled in “do something” legislating.”

The law was first challenged in April 2015. The law had been written with a bullied teenager in mind, but had since being used in cases with adults.
