According to Just Style, Cambodia’s Labor Ministry has announced that it will drop two clauses from the country’s minimum wage law.
On 16th October, it was announced that Article 16 will be removed. This law states that Labor Ministry approval is required before independent research can be done to determine minimum wages. Instead, labor courts will be established to settle worker disputes.

The announcement came after a meeting between Cambodia’s labor minister and Peter McAllister, executive director of the Ethical Trading Initiative. During this meeting , concerns were raised over conditions and wages for workers in the garment textile and footwear industries.
Workers in these sectors will receive an 11% rise in minimum wages by January 2018 bringing them to $170 per month.
