Marginalized groups, such as the gay community, have been the majority when it comes to being effected by Myanmar’s AIDS epidemic. Since homosexuality is illegal, finding and getting treatment is a challenge for patients. Few health workers in the country will treat homosexuals with AIDS.

VOA News reported that an annual religious event called a Nat festival is one time when the gay community can network and talk to health workers about treatment.
