Amazon to Sue 1000 over Fake Reviews

by Admin on October 19, 2015

Online market giant Amazon is suing over 1,000 people for allegedly selling false reviews in one of the biggest legal crackdowns to uncover hidden identities on the web.

As The Sunday Times reports, 1114 assumed fake reviewers will be called to pay damages for the “manipulation and deception” of Amazon customers.

This is a landmark move, with privacy lawyers explaining this could change the way consumer websites are policed.

We can’t help but wonder where “fake” reviews and profiles will end. We were much amused by the reports that most of the “women” the male members of Ashley Madison were speaking to were actually fake accounts ran by the company.

We imagine everyone was amused by this news apart from the unfortunate members, natch.
