The five agencies were previously under government, police and military control

A new law was published in the Royal Gazette on Monday transferring power over five state agencies that handled royal affairs to His Majesty the King.

The 2017 Act of Regulations on the Administration of His Majesty’s Personal Affairs was endorsed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn on April 28th and published in the Royal Gazette on the 2nd of May. It came into effect a day after it was published.

The five state agencies in question are the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary, Royal Household Bureau, Royal Aide-de-Camp Department, Royal Security Command and Royal Court Police, all of which had been under the control of the military, the government and the police.

The five agencies will no longer be regarded as government agencies, will be independent of government laws and will be run by the King.
