Army Declares Martial Law In Thailand
At 3.00 am on Tuesday 20 May 2014, the Royal Thai Army declared martial law across Thailand to restore order following months of anti-government protests that have left 28 people dead and hundreds wounded reports The Bangkok Post.
The military statement was signed by army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-Ocha and it cited a 1914 law that gives it authority to intervene during times of crisis.
