Aaron Swartz’ Prosecutor Defends Charges

The prosecuting U.S. District Attorney in the Aaron Swartz felony hacking case released a statement on Wednesday defending the prosecution. U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz began by sympathizing for the friends and family of Ortiz, but said the prosecution and her office’s conduct, “was appropriate in bringing and handling the case.”

The statement comes a day after Swartz’ funeral, where his father delivered an eulogy criticizing the U.S. government for his son’s death.
