Hot! Thailand Designates 11 Places as “High Risk” for Coronavirus

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry recently placed 9 countries as well as Macau and Hong Kong on a list of countries at “high risk” for the coronavirus, formally known as Covid-19.

The nine countries on the list are France, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Germany, China, Taiwan, Italy, and Iran.

Visitors entering Thailand from these locations will have to undergo a 14-day self-quarantine.

The Public Health Ministry also stated that individuals arriving from these places will undergo extra scrutiny and health checks upon arrival.

If visitors arriving from these locations display flu-like symptoms such as a temperature, a runny nose, a sore throat or any breathing difficulties, they will be sent to a hospital and face being quarantined.

It is unclear how the self-quarantine of individuals arriving from those countries and territories will be enforced.

Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwon announced after the notification that there is no Thailand law in place requiring visitors from the locations to quarantine themselves.
