Hot! Thai Parliament Unanimously Approves Medical Marijuana Bill

Thailand’s interim parliament voted 145 to 0 in favor of a draft bill that would legalize medical weed and kratom in the Southeast Asian country.

Now, the bill will face further revisions by a committee and then go back to another vote in parliament.

If approved again, the bill will then go to the leader of the military junta, Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is expected to sign it into law before next year’s elections, which are supposedly set for February.

The legislation, which by all indications will come into law, will make Thailand the first Asian country to legalize the use, research, production, importation, and exportation of medical cannabis and kratom.

In recent weeks, both Thai and foreign companies have sought patents for medical cannabis products as the bill is all but surely set to pass in the near future.
