Cancer Rice? Chinese University Feeds Students GM Rice, Leukemia Increases

A university in China allegedly fed genetically modified rice to students causing the number of acute leukemia cases to surpass than the normal rate in China threefold, reports Sustainable Pulse.

Students are accusing the Huazhong Agricultural University in China of using GM rice from the university’s experimental base in the school’s canteen. According to Sustainable Pulse, the students then reported “over 10 students suffered from leukemia within a 4 year period,” which is about three times the normal incidence rate in China.

“If this is basically verified, then they should sue those responsible with public prosecution based on endangering public security by dangerous means,” said Chen I-wan, an advisor to the China Disaster Prevention Association, according to Sustainable Pulse.
