Hot! Rotten Meat Scandal Leads to Arrests in China

MeatChinese police made five arrests from the Shanghai factory of US food supplier, OSI Group, which allegedly mixed expired meat with fresh product and sold it to its customers, including popular fast food chains, according to the Bangkok Post.

The OSI plant allegedly responsible for the re-labeling and distribution of expired meat was shut down by Shanghai authorities on Sunday, July 20.

The factory was a major supplier to major restaurant operators across China including McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks, Burger King, 7-Eleven, and Papa John’s Pizza, said the Bangkok Post.

The attorney’s for FDA registration in Thailand at Chaninat and Leeds are experienced in helping businesses register pharmaceuticals, food supplements, medical devices, and cosmetics in Thailand.

The Bangkok Post reports that the five officials arrested were from the Shanghai Husi Food Co., which was the OSI subsidiary that operated the factory in question. The Shanghai Public Security Bureau released a statement saying the five are the company officials responsible for the incident, but did not disclose their names.
