Chinese Filmmaker Fined $1.2 Million For Breach Of One Child Policy
Oscar-nominated Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou has been fined 7.48 million yuan (approximately $1.2 million or ) for breaching China’s one-child policy reports Hong Kong CNN.
The fine comes after Zhang apologized in an open letter for his “excessive children” in December 2013 and admitted to having two sons and a daughter.

China’s strict one child only policy has recently been relaxed and now allows parents to have two children if they are both only children. China has always defended its controversial one child care policy by saying it is a necessary means of population control.
