Thai University Forced To Issue Apology After Hitler Super Hero Scandal
The Dean of Chulalongkorn University has been forced to issue an apology after it emerged this weekend that a billboard showing Hitler alongside other famous superheroes, such as Batman and Superman was painted for the students graduation ceremony. Alarm and worldwide criticism stemmed, as on line pictures emerged showing students posing alongside the mural doing a Nazi salute.
The Dean said in no way was the picture intended to cause offense, and in any event it was meant as a paradox, hence Hitler was painted in black and white, and not color.
Thailand lawyers were quick to point however that they were sure the university and the students had not intended to act in an inflammatory manner, and it stemmed more from ignorance over world history.
