Fed Judge Blocks Georgia Immigration Law
A federal judge has ruled that Georgia is barred from enforcing a key provision in its sweeping immigration law of 2011. That provision punishes people who are harboring and transporting illegal immigrants, or encouraging them to come to Georgia, while committing another crime. Civil and immigrant rights groups are arguing that the provision is unconstitutional.
U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Thrash, who previously ruled against the provision, issued a permanent injunction against it.
