Myanmar Dissolves Censorship Board
Myanmar officially dissolved its strict censorship panel on Thursday, according to the Bangkok Post. The move is seen as another effort to move the country towards democracy by loosening restrictions on the press.
The censorship board had not been active since last August, when the country first announced it would ease restrictions. The board was made of censors who would scrutinize every article or image before it went to print, ensuring no controversial or sensitive governmental topic was mentioned.
