Three States to Vote for Recreational Marijuana Use
Voters in Oregon, Colorado, and Washington State may have the chance to legalize up to an ounce of pot. The states will have the option for legalized recreational marijuana use on the ballot in November and polling shows Washington and Colorado already have at least 50 per cent support.
Many of those who oppose the legalization are in the medical marijuana community. Others worry about pot dispensaries being put out of business and DUI laws that could make it illegal to be driving with even a trace of THC in one’s system.
Legalization opponents argue very few people are locked up for marijuana possession. A survey by the Bureau of Justice Statistics showed that .07 per cent of all state inmates were busted for marijuana possession only.
