Myanmar Investment Law on Hold
Bangkok Post | Myanmar President Thein Sein is holding off on a foreign investment bill asking for amendments to the law that aims to open up the long-isolated nation to overseas trade.
The president returned the draft law to parliament “with remarks” stating that he wanted to amend some of the provisions in the bill. The law will be stalled for an unknown period of time.
Even though Myanmar has invited foreign firms to invest in the mining sector and signed a series of oil exploration deals with foreign companies many investors are waiting for this new bill to be approved and finally passed.
